Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Mini-Review
Friday, 25 February 2011
Wazzap Wazzap Hola for another short review. This week belongs to Castlevania 's reboot Lord of Shadow, supposed to be lest weekend but due to delays coz of my lack of motivation to finish the game and other stuffs. but finally i was able to rush the crap out of it.

This time I wont be telling any part of the story coz I'm lazy. I'll just copy paste the summary here from some source (wikipeds)

"The character Gabriel searches for someone known as Pan[23][24] (voiced by Aleksander Mikic[25]), at the Lake of the Oblivion, where he is told that the living there can communicate with the dead.[26] Gabriel says the Brotherhood of Light sent him because they dreamt that a message from his deceased wife, Marie, awaits him there, holding a clue to the world's salvation.[27][28] With Pan's permission, Gabriel crosses the lake and communicates with her. She informs him that Spirits who founded the Brotherhood of Light are attempting to tell her that the power of the Lords of Shadow will save the world.[29] After Marie disappears, a man from the Brotherhood of Light called Zobek introduces himself to Gabriel as an old acquaintance of Pan.[30] Zobek states that a prophecy has been kept a secret by a select few, and that it tells of a pure-hearted warrior who will claim the Lords of Shadow's power to overcome evil.[31][32] He says that they must enter the lands of the Dark Lords in order to unite the Heavens with the world again, and that with this Gabriel can bring Marie back from the dead.[33] Gabriel decides to leave for the Land of Lycans and asks Zobek to go to the Land of the Vampires to prepare, and that afterward they should go onto the Land of Necromancers together"

yadah yadah blah blah the chicken where did it go?.....Now for the review part... lets start with the graphics, I played it on the PS3 and I was actually surprised that I didn't experience any technical issues but then I remembered it was a Konami game. As we all know Konami and Sony are like best buds, so yah Sony might have provided them with some help when they were developing the PS3 version. The story wasn't that bad and my only problem was the way they delivered the story, they divided the chapter into parts or whatever you call that. There was this one chapter which was divided into 10 parts, I was like "was that even necessary?". It's like storyblocking you, you're at your climax and then some old ass guy (Zobek) starts storytelling. I bet it was there way of compensating for the load times. Finally for the gameplay verdict, well same as the other platformers I guess but the only thing that separates this from the others are the puzzles kept me entertained and I actually expected it to have more button mashing than Bayonetta but it turned out to be not. Overall the game (In my opinion) is a beast and one of the best games of 2010. If you like action-adventure platformer games this one is a must play and trust me you wont be disappointed xD.

PS: the puzzles in this game will make you dumb-looking, lucky for me no one was watching while I was playing the game.

Overall Verdict-8.7/10

Kevster's Mini Game Review: Enslaved!!
Sunday, 6 February 2011
Due to the recession xD I'll be starting to rent games via lovefilm instead of buying them unless it's a title that I really love such as Uncharted, Yakuza, Killzone, Dragon Age, LBP, Battlefield, Call of duty or unless its a bargain buy too lol. Mostly games that have good re playability value aka Multiplayer games nonetheless its in the likes of Metal Gear Solid or God Of War and many more epic games.

Now for the amazing review...

This week belongs to Enslaved : Odyssey to the West

Probably one of the best looking games of 2010 nearly parallel to Uncharted's graphics....First of all lets start with the story aspect of the game, the story starts up with your player stuck in some 'Con-Air' trying to find a way out then you find some red haired girl who is trying to escape too but doesn't wanna cooperate with you coz she thought you were one of the bad guys. The plane crashes, and then your characters wakes up with some headband thing that apparently controls your brain of whatever, hence the game is called is "Enslaved". And That's how Trip and Monkey started their journey and friendship. As I played through the game I slowly realized that the game the story didn't not really focused on the 'ENSLAVING' part well you were enslaved by some girl but the point is it didn't really talked about how the world ended up like that or how the people got enslaved and why is the world full of mechs but more on the the journey itself which is fighting mechs if you know what I'm saying. But to be Fair the game was a re-imagination of the ancient Chinese story 'Journey to the West' so that satisfies the part that they're on a journey. Not gonna say more coz i don't wanna spoil the story for you people, just buy/rent the game and find it out yourself. Now for the presentation aspect of the game...the graphics was gorgeous , the voice-acting was good and the soundtrack wasn't that bad too. Sounds good aint it, unless you got it for the PS3 thats a different story , story such as FREQUENT FRAME-RATE DROPS, LOSS OF SOUND, and CHARACTERS DISAPPEARING IN CUT SCENES. These are not myths they are facts coz I played the ps3 version because I was trophy whoring. So I suggest you get the Xbox 360 version if you have one but if you don't then sucks to be you then. Finally, for the gameplay aspect..This game should be renamed Monkey:Climbing to the West because there is more climbing than fighting in this game and that is why the main character is called Monkey. Some people say the game is like Uncharted well certainly the graphics looks nearly awesome as Uncharted but the gameplay is more of like God of war, Uncharted , and Gears of war mixed together. Here's a proportion of what you'll be doing most of the time in the game 50%climbing,running, jumping, hovering /10% shooting/20%fighting/7.5% lifting stuffs/7.5% helping Trip to get where she wants/5% collecting mask.

Story-7/10
Presentation- 8.5/10 (without the technical issues on the ps3)
Gameplay-7/10
Verdict- 7.5/10
